outfit of the day: 11.30.2010

today, i wore one of my tucker dresses. so easy to put together.

it also marked the debut of my new snow boots. i ended up returning the mod cloth booties in favor of a more practical pair. these are the joan of artic from sorel. available at nordstrom, zappos, free people, and many more retailers. i am typically a 6.5 and went with the 6. though a little more fitted than i am used to for shoes, according to the helpful sales folks at nordstrom, "you really don't want room in the toe of the boots because it allows for air circulation," which apparently in the winter, means you get colder toes, faster. so i went with the 6.

here is my polyvore breakdown:

and, have you ever had one of those days where you could have been little more glamorous if only the weather allowed? well, today was one of those days. if i could (meaning, if it was warmer and i actually owned the blazer and heels), i would have rocked this:

outfit of the day: 11.29.2010

i realized i never posted my outfit of the day from yesterday:

i paired the dress with the garment district blazer (inspired by the catalog shot). i just love this dress. so glad i purchased it when it went on sale. yesterday was rainy, i had to break out my hunter's.

anthropologie samhain dress fitting review and options

over the thanksgiving weekend i had the chance to try on the samhain dress by eva franco at anthropologie. the colors weren't for me, but i do think it would be the perfect holiday dazzler!

i am wearing the size 8 in the photos which is true to size for eva franco for me. i think that it might have run a smidge big and could have tried the 6 as well - but was happy with the fit of the 8 and a little crunched for time.  the dress is much prettier in person - and i hope the close up of the fabric illustrates this. because of this, i think the dress can work in a couple different ways.

first, taking it a little bit softer with cream and gold:

ISADORA
100 GBP - kurtgeiger.com

twirl margie

or going a little edgier by wearing it with black velveteen jacket:

Friesian Jacket
$148 - anthropologie.com
Anthropologie blazers »

Betsey Johnson 'Iconic' Flower & Stone Earrings

the next option was inspired by a mannequin i saw in the store. it takes the dress to a more casual level, allowing for more versatility in your closet:

owl be home dress

i was browsing the mod cloth website today and spotted this dress. as you know, i have a weak spot for charming prints. behold the owl be home dress, which does not disappoint:

of course, it would be darling with a pair of sandals and ray ban sunglasses in the summer:

but i think that it could be easily dressed up for fall with a cardigan:

or taking it into winter with tights and a wooly sweater:
