packing light

hello there!

i am off to nyc for work. of course, i get to go right when it decides to get rainy and hot!
i decided to create a little packing list to help me out tonight and share with you my must-haves for travel.

luckily the trip is mostly casual, but i do have a few meetings during the day where i will want to throw on a blazer.

packing.

each item i pack must work for at least 2 different events, whether that is daytime and going out or plane ride and sightseeing. it helps me pack less, but smarter. this means that sometimes i can't pack my favorite item of the moment, but easy travel is more about mixing and matching than wearing a key item during a short trip :)

let's start with the plane ride: leggings, comfortable moccasins, a chambray shirt or striped tee keeps it easy. i usually wear the same outfit both there and back. i also always bring a scarf to help change up the look without taking up much space (usually i wear it on the plane to stay warm!)

the chambray shirt and striped tee can do triple duty: pairing with some patterned jeans or denim shorts, keeping the moccasins on or going for a slightly dressier flat. these are perfect outfits for going about town casually. change up the top for lace and the shoes for heels, and i think they work for dinner too!

both dresses and the nude flats are great for day time, adding a blazer for work meetings, then taking the blazer off and adding bright heels for dinner and going out.

and if i really get in an outfit bind, i can sport the leggings with any of the tops, blazer and nude flats.

for winter, i just replace the nude flats with tall boots and the shorts with a pair of long denim. and of course pack a pair of tights. everything still mixes and matches. hooray!

what are your travel packing must haves?

until next time,
S
