mini update: 8.22.2011

hello again! have you been having a good summer? mine has been filled with the outdoors. i have taken up going for long walk/runs in the evenings and even attended yoga with a great pal last night.

but don't worry, between work and my new found exercising passion, i have been lusting over new arrivals and deciding which ones needed to come join my closet asap and which ones can wait out a month or two.

outfit of the day: 08.15.2011

hello there! did you have a good weekend? mine was such a whirlwind, but it was so fun! i caught up on some older movies via redbox (blue valentine, the conviction) then saw a couple new ones (the help, friends with benefits). i really enjoyed the help and would highly recommend if you want just a "good" movie. i haven't read the book, but i went with a gal who did. she thought the casting was perfection and the movie was mostly consistent with the book.

 





for my outfit today, i went with an old anthropologie favorite, the botantist's muse skirt by yoana baraschi, circa maybe 2008? i thought it would be the perfect pairing with my new wrap around blouse.

i'll post an official fitting review on that top later, but i went with a 10 based on awkward fitting around the bust.  the arm holes got a little low with the 10, but i figured i would wear the top at work with cardigans anyway, so oh well! :)

tupelo dress fitting review and ootd: 08.04.2011

after trying on the tupelo dress at anthropologie, i couldn't resist. initially the print and color weren't my favorite, but i the fit was so flattering, that prejudice soon melted away.

i went with the size 6 and it fit perfectly. the back has smocking/stretch, so it hugs in all the right places. i also appreciate the wide straps on the dress and the cutout of the back. it hides bra straps as well as covers the back just enough.  here's how i wore it to work:
