j.crew boho embroidered top styling options

hello there! a few weeks ago i tried on the j.crew boho embroidered top and just loved it. i ended up taking a size 4. this would be the same size i took in the loosened shelby blouse (both ran a bit big). it's currently sitting on the top of my non-anthro wishlist, but i am waiting for a sale to pull the trigger. (hopefully i can make it!)

bar chic has the top in her 30x30 and asked to see how i would style it. what a fun exercise:

(click the arrow to the right to see more, and then just click on the set to view larger and find out product information.)

i was surprised at how well this one could work for day and play. which ones are your favorites? how would you style it?

after getting it in the pink stripe, i sort of fell in love with the black stripe too! unfortunately, the black/white combo is sold out in my size... i am still debating calling the "red line" to locate it.

wouldn't it be cute all gussied up in the sailor fashion?

mannequin inspiration: wreathen blouse

looking for another way to wear the wreathen? (the wreathen blouse from anthropologie, that is.)
how about this option, spotted at my local anthropologie:

i don't know why, but i never thought to layer a button-down under the top! genius! here is the breakdown:

while these colors are adorable, i think a more feminine (i.e. pink) spin would be right up my alley:

it's up!

finally. that's the only thing i could think when i walked into my apartment on monday night and saw that the chandelier was hung over the daybed (in the traditional dining room) by the maintenance man. then of course it only took a moment before i started enjoying how pretty it looked above the daybed.

that doesn't really show you anything, does it?  how about a wider shot? with daybed?

here is one more of the daybed (prior to the chandelier being hung...) and my little lavender cabinet next to the daybed.

it's finally all starting to come together.

last weekend i purchased a couple more pillows from west elm for my daybed. i wanted to add in a hint of modern to take the daybed away from the more traditional cottage feel.  (oh yeah, and i couldn't resist the little ceramic owl. i'll show you where he ended up another time.)
west elm delights

i know, i know. it still is very cottagey. but.. trust me. they totally helped. :) and the hint of yellow ties into the other side of the room.

just a smaller scope snapshot for now. i still need to hang one more window above the couch. maybe i can do that tonight and take a full shot to share later this week?

what do you think so far? it's definitely moving in a feminine, but eclectic direction.

ootd: 06.21.2011

hi there! i have a slew of things to post for you! first up is my outfit from last tuesday. i really liked how it turned out:

it's a little bumblebee-esque, but i don't mind. :) i was just too excited to wear my new top and my sale skirt purchase. (i ended up with a 4 in the top and an 8 in the skirt. i sized down from my initial san pedro skirt review. the 10 i had purchased grew to be a 12 during the day and i ended up exchanging for a size down. also, the yellow 8 fits differently than the blue 8 does. 8 blue fit tighter to begin with, but the yellow didn't stretch out as much during the day.)
