come along for sunday shopping

as i mentioned, today was fantastic out. i headed all over town and wanted to share some snapshots of inspiration with you. first up is anthropologie...

i fell in love with this beautiful beribboned installation. it was so enchanting.

then, i snapped a couple of inspiration outfits too:

after anthropologie, i scooted off to hunt and gather...

love, love, love this mirrored door. it is the perfect thing to put against a wall for a fun focal statement.

these metal stools reminded me of the lust worthy one from restoration hardware.

you know i love anything that has peely paint. these pieces were no exception. i saved the best for last. check out this little lavender guy:

he's so cute! :) it was love at first sight and i can't quite get him out of my mind. but i had places to go and pretty things to see, so i was off again and did some window shopping.
ann taylor was first.

well, hello pretty little lace skirt. it's the antique lace tiered skirt. so scrumptious! this must be the new katie holmes influence, no? i didn't stop in or i think i would have been too tempted, but i can't wait to try on soon.

next was j.crew where i saw this adorable blazer #37852. you know, i have a thing for blazers anyway, and this one is in my favorite schoolboy fit.

the sleeves rolled up to a lovely green and white stripe. the online photo does not do it justice. they didn't have my size, otherwise i would have tried on for sure!

my last stop of the day was pottery barn. i wanted to scope out some home decor inspiration and i found just that. the window was the first thing that drew me in...

i love the classic wingback shape with the frenchie feedsack stripe. perfection. if i didn't already own a pair of wingbacks, i would be all over this gramercy wingback chair!

then, i had to snap a picture of this photo wall arrangement. i am always looking for more pictures of walls of pictures. i really like that it is 3D with the clocks.

i have been seeing sheepskin all over. ikea even had a couple of rugs. i liked how this one was thrown over the chair to look quite inviting.

this last piece is the townsend coffee table. i really like that it has a space to display little pretties, without them being out and looking cluttered.

well, that's it!
hope you enjoyed my little trip and that you had a wonderfully restful weekend.

until next time,

pottery barn display and storage finds

hello there. from my post on how i displayed my necklaces, it sounded like a lot of you are looking for unique ways to store and display your jewels and necklaces, so when i spotted this cabinet in the latest pottery barn bed and bath catalog, i had to share:

wall mounted jewelry storage

wouldn't this be darling in a bathroom or even on a back closet wall? i love that it has a mirror too!  my only concern is it looks like it wouldnt be quite right for longer pendant necklaces... but you could hang those below.  and better yet, you could also do this with a medicine cabinet you have (or find vintage one...) right?  just take out the little shelves, add a piece of wood for extra stability with some pretty hooks attached and voila! cabinet for storing jewels is complete.

another adorable option for hanging and display is this pretty memo board (also from pottery barn):
striped pinboard

i have just been loving pb's styings lately. i love this fabric and vintage frame. i think it would be a perfect addition in a closet. i know many of you out there have inspiration boards in your closets and this one is pretty enough to sit next to all those fancy shoes and dresses. :)

i also think if you wanted it, it wouldn't be that hard to re-create. you would just need a vintage looking frame, cork board, and then to cover it with fabric. probably one of the easiest do-it yourselfer projects (even tonight!). have a lovely evening!

a couple of ikea finds

hello. as i mentioned in my prior post, i spent a good 3 hours at ikea today. but it was well worth it. i found some pieces i think will really work for my new space in may. no purchases yet, but i narrowed my scope. (oh yeah, i visited a two bedroom in the same complex on thursday and really liked it. now i just have to wait until the end of february to find out if there will be an actual apartment available when i want to move it. i am nervous to say the least and also not very good at waiting. send some good thoughts into the universe for me!)

first up, beyond milo the sofa, i am thinking it might be nice to have a spot to crash into in the living room. i thought maybe a daybed would work for the space, keeping in casual and comfortable - but would also work as a bed for visiting friends. i liked these two from pottery barn, but wasn't really liking either of the prices (because of course, i would still need to purchase a mattress, etc.)
pb savannah daybed, available in distressed white or antique pewter

pb avery daybed

luckily, ikea had a version that i liked (and the price was only $149!) below is the tromsnes day bed which comes in a pretty grey blue color.

here is a better color shot of the frame. it is definitely more grey than aqua:

as for styling, don't worry. it would not look like a bed. i really like that first styling photo from pottery barn. i would add a daybed cover for the mattress (like this one from west elm or this one from pottery barn) or get a low tufted mattress like this one  from pottery barn:
pb upholstered daybed mattress

i have some vintage feather pillows on a bench in my room and i think they would work perfectly to pile onto a daybed. it would also bring more color and pattern into the living room.

both pottery barn pictures i like had bolster pillows flanking the daybed. i'll have to remember that when the time comes. i think those are the key in making it look more sofa, less bed.

the second find from ikea is this edland linen cabinet:

again, the color isn't quite right in the product shot. it was much more of a washed grey. i tried to capture it, but it still looks more black. i thought this would be perfect for in the dining area space to hold my fancy party dishes and cake plates :) right now, i have space above the kitchen cabinets where they are displayed. in the new place, there isn't any space above the cabinets. i still think they are pretty and want to display, so this cabinet would work perfectly. oh, and the best part?

it already has a darling little wallpaper in the back! this picture has the color of the piece more accurately represented too.

isn't it so fun to think of all the possibilities with a new space?

west elm rug option?

hi there. i am browsing rugs and had to share this one from west elm. it made me laugh out loud. (and i want it... in that funny home decor kind of way.)
david stark zebra rug from west elm

for a more serious option, this sheepskin rug, also from west elm, might be perfect for that first step out of bed in the morning.

so many choices!

pottery barn goes vintage

i was surprised when perusing the latest pottery barn catalog. they went vintage. so delightful! first up, this bird jewelry dish.

it would be so pretty on a bedside table.
or what about these splish splash guest towels

they look just like real vintage ones! they also have a pillow with the same motif.

i thought this brenton patchwork organic quilt was also pretty.

last up, the brittany rose boudoir pillow. i love, love, love the big cabbage roses.

pottery barn cubbies

i love pretty little vintage finds. i also love when everything has its proper place. sometimes these two loves don't go hand in hand, so i was thrilled to discover this pottery barn cubby organizer, available in both stained wood or distressed white. so thrilled infact, i purchased 2!

below was my initial styling:

all the littles have a spot to rest and be featured.

two little shakers of sparkle, purchased from etsy!

then i got inspired by pottery barn's own styling photos on their website:

and decided to try to fill all the little cubbies with vintage treasures:

i used old wooden spools from textile mills (available from around $5-15 at antique shops and flea markets, or again, etsy.com) to display vintage hats along the top shelf. old millinery flowers, cream enamel mugs, jars of buttons, spools with ribbon, and a jadite shaker round out the items featured.
